However, Givaldo was later seen by many Brazilians as a person with bad intentions, as he had used someone else to gain fame. He was involved in a controversial case with Sandra Mara, a Christian woman, who had an hallucination of Jesus Christ in Givaldo. Sandra's husband, a personal trainer, attacked Givaldo, leaving him unconscious. The case shocked the country, and Givaldo became known as the "Homeless of Planaltina".
